Department of State officially releases QDDR
After providing a sneak preview of the draft summary of its Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review (QDDR) in late November, the State Department yesterday announced the official release of the first-ever QDDR, “Leading Through Civilian Power.”
At a town hall meeting, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, together with USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah, Director of Policy Planning Anne-Marie Slaughter, and Under Secretary for Management Patrick F. Kennedy, laid out the review’s primary premises and presented its core findings.
According to Clinton, the QDDR
“is a sweeping effort that asks a simple question: “How can we do better? How can we adapt to a world of rising powers, changing global architecture, evolving threats, and new opportunities? How can we look ahead prepare for, and help shape the world of tomorrow?”
