LA Times: Science diplomacy a key to soft power in Muslim countries

The United States should look to increase its soft power influence on Muslim-majority countries though “its open intellectual culture, its great universities, [and] its capacity for discovery and innovation,” Ahmed Zewail, White House science envoy to the Middle East, writes in the Los Angeles Times:

By harnessing the soft power of science in the service of diplomacy, the U.S. can demonstrate its desire to bring the best of its culture and heritage to bear on building better and broader relations with the Muslim world and beyond.
