The House Appropriations Committee approved legislation Tuesday that includes a $10 million increase for the educational and cultural exchange programs of the U.S. Department of State in fiscal year (FY) 2007. The bill includes a total of $436.275 million for the exchange programs, an increase of $10 million over the FY 2006 (after the funding bill’s across-the-board cut was applied), and is $38 million below the level requested by the Bush Administration.
