The House of Representatives last week approved legislation to fund the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) at a level of $33.1 billion. The bill, which passed by a vote of 389 to 9, would provide DHS with $32.1 billion in discretionary funding in FY 2007, a six per cent increase over last year, and $161 million less than President Bush sought, after fees are considered.
