Membership in the Alliance

Alliance member organizations administer exchange programs of all types and represent the breadth and depth of the U.S. international educational and cultural exchange community. Membership in the Alliance allows each of these organizations to remain fully informed of the regulations and public policies that affect their programs and business and to have a strong voice in the creation and promotion of those policies and regulations.

  • Membership services: The Alliance offers its members an array of services to support them in their work of administering and promoting international exchange programs.
  • Annual Advocacy Day: In late February/early March, Alliance members descend on Washington, DC, to lobby their Congressional delegations on the issue of international exchange.
  • Annual Membership Meeting: Each October, Alliance members again come to Washington, this time for a membership gathering that includes meetings of issue-based task forces, a networking dinner, and influential guest speakers from in and around the exchanges field.
  • Task forces: Member organized and led, the Alliance supports permanent and ad hoc tasks forces that provide a locus for discussion and advocacy on specific issues that affect the exchange community as a whole.

The Alliance supports member organizations at three different levels:
